A reader asks…
“Which one is best to get Sales and Conversion, Google AdWords or Facebook Ads?”
I know opinions differ and most “experts” will tell you the answer “depends on your offer”. But i’m not most experts and i take a firm stance that just ONE of these is superior to ALL ad networks.
Google Ads is the best, of course.
Especially if you compare it to Facebook. Which in my opinion is a waste of your money and time.
Here’s five reasons why…
1. GOOGLE ADS RUN EVERYWHERE
When you advertise on Facebook, your ads are only seen on the two platforms they own (Facebook and Instagram), only by their users, doing only one activity…socialising.
This may seem good enough to you, but consider this:
If you invest into mastering Google Ads, the same skill-set you learn gets your ads on a HUGE amount of internet real estate–you can reach people not just while they search (which is important), but also while they watch videos on YouTube and partner video sites, while they consume news and blogs on any site that serves Adsense ads, in their inbox through Gmail ads, on smart devices such as TVs, mobile phones inside Android apps (which btw gets some ridiculously cheap sales conversions for us!), while they listen to Podcasts with audio ads, on their Google Home Assistant and on their TVs on their mobiles and on their desktops.
EVERYWHERE. One skillset.
2. GOOGLE IS SMART
Facebook has a goal optimiser, but Google’s is better. Data drives the accuracy of their respective optimisers. By having more platforms and applications, Google has access to more data, so it learns better and makes better decisions on your behalf.
Ask anyone who advertises on FB, and they’ll tell you how it’s quick to decide where to spend your money…and it’s not always the best choice for you, resulting in expensive CPAs. Then it refuses to change its mind no matter what you do.
Google’s optimiser, on the other hand, is able to adjust itself when you change objectives. Often, it even recommends when you should reduce your CPA goal if it can get you the same or similar volume for less money.
3. GOOGLE IS RELIABLE
Facebook’s platform is temperamental. Say you’ve got a nice CPA going and you try to increase your budget to scale out, it often goes completely the other way!
Google Ads, on the other hand doesn’t choke on changes. It simply adjusts and learns a new startegy (often faster for minor changes). It even suggests changes you can make to reduce your costs and reach your objectives more frequently.
4. GOOGLE HAS MANY TARGETING OPTIONS
Facebook only allows you to select audiences by interests and behaviours.
This is just ONE of many ways to target on Google. With Google, you can target audiences in ways you can’t even dream of on Facebook. Eg, users who frequently visit your competior’s websites, watchers of specific videos or channels that you know tend to do well for you, search keywords, site placements, and so on. Even remarketing is more effective on Google because you can reconnect with people on other platforms they use, with different ad formats.
5. GOOGLE IS FAIR
I’ve written about this in a previous email…Facebook is corrupt. It rewards big spenders by bending their rules for them, often allowing bigger advertisers to get away with ad messaging and product categories that smaller advertisers can’t. Unless you spend a LOT, they’re constantly disapproving ads with no reliable consistency, interrupting any results you do get.
Google, on the other hand, applies the same rules to big and small advertisers alike. You can at least count on if you behave well and follow the rules, your ads will run with little drama.
These are just some of the many reasons Google Ads is superior to Facebook Ads.

For people with small budgets or just starting out in online business, if there’s one advertising platform worth mastering, it must be Google. One skillset gets you EVERYWHERE (except FB and Instagram lol).
