Twiddling Thumbs, Waiting for Traffic?

I might have thrown my
back today, so forgive me if this message is brief.
I really wanted to
elaborate on the topic of my last email to you.
When people ask us to
setup traffic for their business, it’s not like you might imagine.
A majority of our
clients turn up with almost a blank slate.
They don’t have a
They don’t have a
sales process.
They don’t have even a
product in mind they want to sell.
But they DO want
This isn’t always the
case of course, and it makes a consultation go a lot more smoothly when the
client has all their ducks in a row, with a proper business website and sales
process in place that only needs traffic.
But when clients have
none of these things setup, we actually end up discussing for at least two
hours discussing JUST the product and sales process.
We don’t have time to
start the conversation about traffic even.
Often I end up having to
do a SECOND 2-hour consultation free of charge just to get the requirements
The issue is that traffic
is really the LAST step in a 3-step process.
The first is product.
The second is sales.
The last is traffic.
So when you ask us to build
a traffic campaign, remember that even though it takes time, we’re essentially
BUILDING your business from scratch just so our work has relevance.
That’s not

twiddling your thumbs for a month or two while we’re working hard at setting up
your advertising…
Just waiting. Edging
us on. Prodding us…like it’s the only thing missing from your business.

that once the traffic comes, you won’t be ready for it.
What you SHOULD be
doing, especially if you come to us with a blank slate, is to get your ducks in
a row, make a final decision about which products you want to sell and in what
order, based on our consultation…
And create a process (with
or without our help) to sell it.
You should then spend
some time bullet-proofing the process, making sure it flows logically, and that
at least in concept, if a visitor arrives at your website, there is a way to
turn them into a customer.
When the traffic
comes, and TRUST ME, it will come when we’re done…
You MUST start selling
immediately. You can’t afford to PANIC.
