The Virtual Office's Office…and the Internet Lifestyle You Wish You Had

Thought we’d do something a little fun today…
As you might imagine, the Internet Marketer lifestyle is awesome. And I pray for you the day will come when you will know firsthand how it is to live such a life.
But for now, let me rub your face a little in the magic.
First off, know this…
My computers are NEVER turned off. They’re put to sleep, they’re put into Hibernate state, they’re left to go into screensaver mode…but they are NEVER EVER switched off. 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
There are two computers at a long workbench. Both are attached to extended desktop displays. One for recording and reading, the other for “assistant applications”. A third Multimedia computer is hooked up to the projector and fills the wall with bright screen presentations behind the main desktop computers.
A fourth laptop that I can take with me anywhere is connected up as a “remote control” using MouseWithoutBorders so I can control any machine through the network, as if its screen is part of the same laptop. Nice!
Now on a typical day, you will find on my desktop the following open applications, regardless of what I’m doing:
1. Calculator – I’m a scientist, and the calculator is used to figure out cost per sales, conversion stats, average click-thru rates, and average customer values…for me, my team, and our clients.
2. Internet Explorer – though I don’t use this browser for my normal browsing activities because it SUCKS, I have it open so I can test out landing pages we design for DFYT clients. Pages that look good in Chrome, Firefox, and Safari don’t look the same on MS Internet Explorer…and when you’re 1000’s of daily clicks and traffic through Bing (as we do for DFYT clients), it becomes CRITICAL to make sure the landing page renders well on Internet Explorer. This is most likely the browser being used by searchers on Bing and if the page looks wrong, guess what? No leads! Can’t have that can we?
3. Chrome – This is my regular browser of choice. It’s fast, robust, and has some awesome developer features that let me study any element on a webpage and even modify it on the go. I often do some jQuery debugging in there too which is always great fun. More on what’s in my browser in a moment.
4. Camtasia – This is my screen recording software of choice. We build sales presentations with it, training videos for the team, AND it has a great feature that lets me capture the audio from our DFYT Consultations so I can record them and share them with the client when we’re done…and share them with the team as we deliver the DFYT Traffic campaign.
5. WinSCP – This application is what I use to upload files to share with clients such as a preview of their Landing Page we build for them, as well as other file management tasks.
6. Notepad – I like no-frills text editors. I use mine for keeping my idea bank for email ideas, as well as my todo lists, as well as for editing HTML and CSS for client page designs.
7. MS Word – When I need more powerful document editing, such as formatting and editing the Advertising Plan Manuals for DFYT clients, this is where I do it. It’s powerful, packed with features, and makes some snazzy looking documents.
So these are the most common applications you’ll see on my main laptop desktop.
What about what’s open in my browser?
At any time you’ll find at least the following tabs open:
1. Gmail – I receive all emails LIVE as they come in and reply to them. If I don’t reply to an email as it arrives, I will probably never get to it. In a single day I receive and send as many as 100 emails. So I NEVER close gmail.
2. Google calendar – I plan out all DFYT appointments on my calendar as well as any other important events I have to take care of. If it’s not on my calendar, chances are I won’t remember it. So even haircuts and social events are logged here. Penny, my beautiful assistant shares the calendar with me and checks my schedule before setting any client appointments for me.
3. Paypal – no, not so I can count my money haha. But I program my own Paypal integrations with shopping carts, clickbank, etc. So this website is almost always open.
4. Kajabi – This is our members area for the Internet Business Academy and again, I keep this open because I’m constantly developing and integrating it with payment processors, sales pages, and affiliates (btw, we’ll be offering an affiliate program through Clickbank to sell the IBA + Continued Help with 75% recurring commissions – in case you’re interested!)
5. Zoho Projects – this is our virtual office environment for YaghiLabs and where all our team members meet, communicate, and log their work. Can’t live without this one!
6. Google Docs – We’re constantly sharing documents with our staff and DFYT clients to keep them up-to-date with their projects. Can’t really be away for one minute from Google docs, so it’s always open.
7. Facebook – NOT to socialize as most of you do. Facebook is open so I can a) share our sales links for DFYT and b) so I can study our customers and better understand what they want. It also gives plenty of email ideas which is important.
So that’s a pretty comprehensive summary of the applications and websites I can’t live a day without.
And I know this is making you itch to buy our DFYT consultation…so here’s the link in case you forget:
