Do you think your landing page converts badly?
What is a good conversion rate anyway?
Guess what? It doesn’t matter.
In this issue, I’m going to show you why…and how sometimes even with a “poor optin rate” you can get traffic CHEAP and be in profit.
Tim contacted YaghiLabs some time ago and asked us to build him a PPC traffic campaign. After we built it, the campaign sat for a while in his account, paused while he put together the rest of his sales process.
One day, he “turned on” our campaign.
Within a few hours, he noticed that our supposed “high converting” landing page was flopping with a lousy 6% conversion rate!
So I had one of our guys take a closer look to see if we need to redo the work.
Before I go on, I should explain something…
Tim’s campaign was built using a special version of the Traffic KickStart method specifically designed for clients who want us to just build the campaign, do the keyword research for them, and then let them run it.
They campaigns are meant to be turned on and get leads cheaply, no matter what.
The client can then turn the traffic “up” or “down” depending on their business numbers.
So anyway, my guy emails me back with:
“Dude. Bro. Tim’s got 101 conversions at $2.88 Cost Per Acquisition.”
Keep in mind, no tweaking or management has been done to this campaign. And the nature of these types of campaigns is they do better when optimised.
Although Tim’s landing page was converting “poorly”, he generated over 100 email leads for a ridiculously low cost WITHOUT TOUCHING A DANG THING.

This is the Traffic KickStart method at play…
It brings traffic from the MOMENT you turn it on.
And it gets leads… and it gets them cheap.
Like i’ve said many times before, we don’t track or look at any numbers that aren’t MONEY numbers.
Lead conversion RATE is meaningless.
A lead is NOT a buyer…it’s a POTENTIAL buyer.
And a RATE is relative (to your business), not absolute (to all businesses).
One person’s 6% could be better than someone else’s 40%. If they’re better at turning those leads into money.
As long as you have SOME traffic flowing, you only have ONE mission to focus on.
Convert one of those visitors or leads coming in to a customer ASAP.
This keeps things simple.
You focus on only two numbers:
1) How much it costs to generate a customer…
and. 2) how much you earn from each.
Because before you sell once, all numbers are meaningless.
But when you have ONE customer, you’ll at least have a ballpark idea of how many leads, visits, and dollars you need to get a second buyer, and a third and fourth…
At least then, your conversion rate will actually mean something.
You can say, “Hey, I’m getting a 6% optin rate…and I’m only breaking even. If I can just bump that number up to 7%, I’ll be in profit!”
In this case, you don’t need a 40% optin rate to make money from your traffic.
Even though Tim used a different version of the KickStart method, the constant in both the version i teach and the version we use with our clients is they both allow you to just TURN ON the traffic.
You don’t touch it.
You don’t play with your landing page.
Just let KickStart send potential buyers through your sales process…and you sell, sell, sell!
Then when you make a sale, you can go look at the stats to see how much it cost to gain that customer. And you can tweak what you sell…or for how much you sell…to make a lot more money.
