hey, sorry I’m
not in a good mood.
Don’t
worry, I’m not writing an angry rambling tirade. I’m writing in with a good
lesson for you that will give you MORE profit.
Here’s what
happened.
Yesterday, I
lost my temper real bad.
And I’m
normally a calm guy, with a long fuse, very polite and soft-spoken. If you’ve
ever met me, you’d never expect the “fireworks” that go off when I finally lose
my shit.
Why?
Lately, I’ve
been noticing a really annoying pattern in my friends. And this is something
that you will realize soon enough with your own friends when you work from home
full-time.
They think
we are LIKE them.
We’re not.
One of my old friends is
in town for a few days. And he expects me to spend all my time with him, full-time. And I wouldn’t mind
honestly…
Except that
I have a shitload of work to do right now…lots of wheels turning.
And like I’ve
been trying to find a spare moment for the past 3 days to write you a new email
lesson. But I’m running on fumes from exhausting “social commitments”–which
is people’s idea of “fun”.
Nothing
about other people is “fun” for me.
They’re
extremely tedious and self-centered. Conversation is superficial. And they try
to cram ALL their “fun” activities into the same minute.
For
example, you invite a friend for dinner, and they have 50 other social
engagements before, during, and after.
The wife,
who is very pregnant, spends days preparing for the event. Between grocery-shopping,
cleaning, planning, and cooking for the guests she exhausts herself and spends the week in bed, just to be a
gracious host…
But what
does the guest do?
He can’t even
get himself to show up on time. Turns up 3 hours late–or 3 hours EARLY (yah people do that these days!)–depending
on what their other engagements are–sometimes they even cancel without so much as a
phone call…
If the
guest ever arrives, he walks in, spends the entire time between texting,
phonecalling, and facebooking, wolfs down the meal with just a tad of criticism (hmph!),
and then wants to leave immediately after the food is gobbled down.
Going out with
employees is a pain too. Don’t get me started.
Anyway, so
why did I lose it?
We’re out to
dinner with this guy…and I’m telling you this is NOT the first time it’ happened…
So he says,
to me, “Hey, so what are you doing tomorrow? You’re working from home, yeah? So
I’ll come over at like 9(am) and we’ll hang out while Aya cooks.”
Errmm…
HELLO?
It’s called
WORK from home…WORK. WORK.
It’s not
called “sit at home and do nothing from home”.
People keep saying dumb things like this to basically imply, that if you work from home you have nothing to do and you sit around twiddling your thumbs waiting for their phone call.
The
employee’s mind can’t even begin to grasp an entrepreneur’s life.
And why
would they?
They spend
their entire life in mediocrity, doing the minimum they can get away with, always
taking the “safe” easy way, repeating the same routines day in and day out.
The only thing they love is immediate gratification–they love
payday, but they grudgingly go to work and turn it into a boring, routine, duty.
They all
hate their job.
Don’t even try to deny it…there is not one employee on this
planet who doesn’t hate their job. No matter how well-paid, no matter how easy
going, no matter how easy.
It’s just a
matter of degree.
They cannot
understand that an entrepreneur LOVES what he does. He WANTS to work. He’s not waiting
for boss to tell him to work. He motivates himself–not with fear and
desperation–but with LOVE, excitement, and accomplishment.
When the
employee finishes work for the day…or on the weekend…they want to SOAK UP the
freedom.
Not us.
We are our
own employee–both boss and star employee–and every boss’ dream is to have
nothing but star employees to take care of all the work. After all, a star employee does
the job right and he does it well and he’ll work as long as is needed to get
the job done.
We demand
work from ourselves and we WANT to do the work for ourselves.
An employee
doesn’t get it.
When I take
time off, I’m not just losing time. I’m losing money TWICE. As a boss AND as an
employee:
The money I
spend on socializing -and the money I lose by not working on my business.
They don’t get it.
The employee
is content with being paid for 8 hours of bullshit.
I’m not.
His minute
is worth a fixed dollar amount that does not increase.
My minute
is worth 1000 times his–AND any extra minute I get, i use to increase the worth
of future minutes. Everything we do is cumulative–we build success on success.
How could they ever begin to understand us?
Unfortunately,
there are a lot of home business wannabe’s who talk the talk of an entrepreneur
but walk the walk of an employee.
People who only
want to succeed in business so they can have MORE money, doing more NOTHING.
People who
think having a business liberates them from work, from boss, and from sacrifice.
It does
not.
Having your
own business only makes your work worth more.
If you do
nothing you’re worth nothing.
Your own business gives
you the freedom to dictate your own hours, work when it suits you, take time
off when it suits you, and pay yourself as much as you want.
BUT YOU DON’T
WANT ANY OF THIS STUFF!
A true
entrepreneur wants to pay himself as LITTLE as possible…and get as much work
out of himself as possible. Because every spare cent and every spare minute he
saves is for his business.
This might
sound discouraging to some.
But if that’s
how you feel, then you’re just not cut out for this. And your life would be
easier if you just found some routine 9-5 and left “home business” for the REAL
men.
This is not
to say an entrepreneur’s life is all sacrifice and hardship.
Quite the contrary–there’s many
great benefits to being self-employed and working from home.
Eg, even though
you pay yourself little, the money is still available and plenty–any time you
NEED it, you give yourself a temporary raise or bonus as big as you want.
Money
isn’t the ONLY benefit either…
You get to
spend more of your time with the people who live in the “office” (your home) with
you.
Even though
you might be working a lot, your kids play in front of you. You
don’t miss your son’s first step or first word…you get to watch your kids grow
up…teach them…hold them…even if it’s while you’re on the phone with a client.
You get to kiss
your wife several times, every day, whenever you get up for a water break. You
get to hug her when she wakes up in the morning, allocate “time off” for
cuddling–and sleep in your own bed next to her EVEN if you’re a workaholic.
And when
your annoying friends want to waste your time…
Well, your
business keeps earning in spite of them. No matter how it burns you to not be
working.
At least
that’s the way I setup my home business…
Traffic
rolls in automatically and I get leads and sales no matter what I’m doing.
Even when I’m
super annoyed at the 6-hour social-outings that won’t end… I keep one ear open
for the steady “New Order” email ding of my phone, and I know the sales are still
coming, and I just got a little richer.
I smile
secretly.
And listen to
friends ramble on about their mediocre lives. Knowing my business is still
earning.
What?!
Your
business isn’t doing that yet? Then you probably don’t know the Traffic KickStart
method–the most amazing traffic technique ever.
It’s the
only way to get traffic volume enough for a full-time work from home life.
The only
way to get traffic you can scale UP, with the push of a button.
The only
way to keep the sales flowing, automatically without interacting–Not because
you’re lazy…but because the more automated your business, the more time you
have to grow even bigger.
