If you have a TINY budget but still want to do PPC, you might think it’s impossible.
But that’s not true.
Sure having more money speeds things up.
See, with PPC it’s like a science experiment. You set a campaign and run it for a little while to see what results it gives.
Based on the results you see, you make adjustments.
How long you have to wait to see something usable depends on how much budget you have to experiment with.
If you can do $100/day then you can get usable results within 24-hours, and start your cost-saving and pumping up the traffic volume almost right away.
But if your budget is like $10 or $15/day, then you may need to wait a week.
One such client came to us with a $12/day budget. The traffic team freaked out:
“How are we going to handle this, Jim?” they asked.
“Not to worry,” I replied. “Just set the daily budget to $12 so we never go over.”
We then proceeded to add TONS of keywords to the account with new ads. I asked them to wait and get back to me when they had conversions.
2 weeks later, we looked at the stats. The client’s traffic was up, their lead cost was down, and their ad CTR was really high.
Problem?
Lead cost, even though it was lower than the client had before we stepped in, was still at $40/lead. MUCH TOO HIGH!
But there were 5 tracked leads in the account. Nothing to write home about…but you have to remember there’s a $12 daily budget without much wiggle room.
Anyway, last night I went over the numbers, killed off 100’s of keywords and left something like 4 keywords which had produced the conversions we’d seen since we arrived at the scene.
The next day, the traffic team came back reporting clicks at 100% conversion!
In mere hours, we produced the same number of leads it had taken 2 weeks to get before.
Leads cost $2.30 each. A GIANT reduction in cost.
Now we reiterate.
This is another of my PPC management traffic strategies. I call it the “high keyword turn over” strategy.
When a client’s budget is very small, we give keywords that don’t produce quickly a short lifespan. They’re removed and replaced quickly by new ones that might convert sooner.
We have TENS of such strategies, no matter the budget or time available. We can always get results.
Each client is handled differently, depending on their needs. One glove cannot fit all.
