Pointers for Freelancers who need lots MORE clients

So…You’re a freelancer and you need to generate client-leads
for your services….
Good news is, KickStart can help.
Bad news is, you’re gonna have a lot more business than you can handle.
We spent most of 2011 doing just client work for marketing
services. And that was one of the biggest and most profitable years we’ve had.
(Although super stressful and bad for my health haha)
We generated all our new business with the Traffic KickStart Method on Google, Bing, and Yahoo.
I promoted my team of Virtual Assistants, freelance
copywriters, email writers, bloggers, web programmers, and social media and
traffic managers.
Our clients were for film makers, hobby shops, flight schools,
martial arts, and a host of other businesses…we did work for more than 100 clients over the
span of that year!
We never had to speak to anyone on the phone to sell and
we never had to write a proposal to win business.
Clients came to our website,
paid in advance…and we only ever spoke one-on-one to paying customers.
Everyone else was just getting our email newsletter and that’s how we sold the services.
So much new business came in that we literally had to “close”
shop twice and eventually started turning clients away and refunding their
advance payments.
Some were so persistent, that even after we returned
their money and told them we can’t take on more work, they begged us to keep their payment,
even if we needed an extra 6 months to get to them.
You might have even been with us back then, and recall our announcements that we were “taking a break” from new client work.
And you might have even been one of the clients we had to
turn down.
If i remember correctly, Dayne, the guy asking the question was one of the people i had to turn down.
In fact, it’s two years later, and we STILL get work requests, although those services have been closed for some time.
The queue for new work was back-logged about 4-6 months. It
was so busy, that we had to come up with a system to “purge” clients when they didn’t
send information we needed to complete our work.
So, yeah, Traffic KickStart works for freelancers.

But why don’t i share a few useful lessons I learned, to help you get the most out of KickStart?
First, sell at a high(ish) price-point.
Don’t go overboard, but make the price worth your while.
If you’re not happy with the compensation you get, you’re
gonna do a crap job (and the more the work gets, the worse you’ll feel about a small compensation).
The KickStart method will make you famous…so make sure
you’re known for quality. Not bad work.
Secondly, don’t talk to anyone unless they pay in advance to speak to
You’re an expert consultant. Bill everyone who needs your personal
attention. And speak to no one who won’t pay for it.
Don’t do “pre-sales” and sales calls on the phone. If you find
it necessary, let an assistant talk to them. You are the expert and they need
to pay for ANY advice you give or personal access they get to you…including help with, “which service they should
Thirdly, know your audience.
You’re likely to get a majority of people who want to do the
work themselves, not hire out. They seek out experts to learn from and get “advice”
on how THEY can do the work.
That’s just the nature of the internet.
Accept this fact. And then use email follow-up and regular blog
posts to SWAY them.
Show them how COMPLEX the work is, and how they can royally screw
it up if they don’t know what they’re doing…and how easy it is to just hire it
out. Get them to the point they’re like:
“Fugk it. I’m just gonna hire this out.”
It works. Especially when it really is complex.
Finally, get a standing desk.
Yes. Client work is brutal. Even with a staff. It will ruin your health if you’re not careful.
In summary: to get all the clients you can handle (and
more), you need two things:
Traffic and follow-up.
