So i posted the job to Upwork.
One of the applicants asked a surprisingly high rate … considering he lived in India.
he began to convince me to change my requirements so he might repurpose a project he did for ANOTHER client. This would, supposedly, save me time. Also, he demonstrated he’d not reviewed the working demo which showed what i wanted the end result to look like. Nor did he look at the code i supplied to see how much work he’d need to do to modify it.
All the same, he gave me an estimate of 100 hours, over 3 weeks…
Given his rate, it would’ve cost me close to $10,000. To a wanker from India. Hacking something a trained code monkey could do.
It pisses me off when 3rd World “talent” tries to charge 1st World rates. Especially when they’re INCOMPETENT as was the case with this fellow.
Here’s what they fail to understand.
Most clients, if they’re going to pay the same price anyway, they’d rather hire someone…erm…how should i say this tactfully…
Meaning, if the dude ever had a shot, it’s because he should’ve been cheap.
Moreover, a 3rd world talent, while he might deserve 1st world rates, the fact he can live comfortably in his country with a relatively smaller income than someone in the 1st world, is a HUGE business advantage for him!
The 1st World talent, whether good or not, there’s a point where he cannot afford to take a job if the rate is too low. The hours he spends doing the work, he could spend doing something else that makes more money.
Whereas the 3rd world talent could take an even lower rate and STILL buy all he needs to live well.
Now, certainly in any business, if you can sell for a lower rate while maintaining a high level of quality, you will DOMINATE that market.
Your margins will be bigger. And because you can sell for a lower price and still be profitable, while others cannot match your rates without destroying themselves, you will eat a big share of their business.
In fact, this is the very principle that allowed the rise of companies like Amazon, Dell, and Walmart. They got a HUGE cost-saving, margin-boosting advantage over everyone else AND it was systematised into their business model. It’s not just a cost-cutting, but it’s the heart of the business.
Is there a cost-saving advantage that you can systematise into your internet business?
Oh yes. The cost of advertising.
Normally, when you run traffic to your affiliate offers, you have to be VERY careful that the cost of finding a customer never exceeds the amount of commission you earn. Similarly, if you sell your own products, you can’t spend more to find a customer than you make from that customer.
There’s always a point where if the cost of finding a customer gets too high, your profit margin disappears.
This is because you pay the cost EVERY TIME before you get paid.
Now, imagine you pay the cost ONCE but you get paid infinitely.
Well, for one, you can out-advertise ANYONE competing with you.
Instead of buying traffic to sell a product like all the other guys, YOU invest into growing an ATTENTIVE AUDIENCE and fostering a relationship with them.
When you have an attentive audience, you can offer them numerous solutions, and they keep buying, and you keep growing your margin every time. But your cost stays fixed.
While the average online marketer’s growth is determined by the volume of customers they can generate while maintaining an ever-shrinking margin…your growth is a function of the number and the frequency of product offers you make.
I teach you in the Super Traffic Machine to embed unfair advantages into your business model. It’s a new way of developing an info-marketing business…instead of being product-focused, you’re audience-focused.
