Alternatives To Clickbank’s Model

In response to yesterday’s email about how to really do affiliate marketing, a subscriber writes…

“What are the best monetisation tactics for affiliate marketing?”

Let’s pretend you already have an audience…heh. You produce content and you have people who regularly tune in to hear from you.

How do you make money from your work?

Well, the obvious way is to sell a product.

But if you don’t have your own product and don’t wanna create one…can you still make money?

Of course!

An obvious way is to endorse affiliate products.

Problem is, in our industry, rarely do newbies think outside the obvious affiliate networks like Clickbank and their model.

The true appeal of Clickbank, however, is that you can make money selling products, WITHOUT building any.

The fact that publishers on Clickbank offer rubbish marketing materials is NOT part of that appeal–even though you’re supposed to think it is.

The only good thing about Clickbank is their directory of products you can make money from, without producing a product yourself.

And THAT is a HUGE shortcut!

But there’s plenty of clever ways, aside from Clickbank, to make money without producing your own products.

For instance, many apps and software services offer partner programs on their websites. If you join, you can make money by talking to your audience about a product or service you ACTUALLY use.

In other cases, if you reach out, you can make a personal deal with the creators of a product you plan to review or endorse.

You can even find Amazon listings for consumer products (eg, an iPhone or a GoPro) and get compensated for referred sales, despite the manufacturers themselves not offering official referral programs.

Plus, you can sell banner ads directly to advertisers on your website or embedded in your content or inside your emails.

There’s joint venture partnerships and joint promotions.

There’s licensing, private label right, and whitelabelling…

There’s network marketing and online marketing systems…

There’s product resale and drop shipping…

The options are endless. When you have an engaged audience interested in your content, why limit yourself to a single Clickbank product?

It’d be silly NOT to monetise your audience using every method available. Not everyone will buy, and not everyone will buy everything, but the more variety of things you promote, the more frequently you’ll monetise, the more money you’ll make.

And for those occasions where a member of your audience never buys anything, you can STILL monetise their consumption of your content by embedding ads.

Bottom line is, you can make money and never create a product if you don’t want to.

But why wouldn’t you?

Creating your own products is just one more way to monetise your audience…and you’ll keep 100% of the proceeds.

The reverse is true too!

Even if you have your own product to sell, WHY NOT also promote the products of others?

People write to me from time to time, asking…

“Does the Super Traffic Machine work for selling my own product, or is it just affiliate marketing?”

The stupidity of this question BAFFLES me.

What’s the difference between selling a product you created and a product someone else did?

The mechanics of selling your own is just like promoting ANY product at all.

If anything, you should be asking if i offer a training program on how to build or produce your own things to sell (which i’ll be doing soon).

Anyone who’s made any serious money in information marketing routinely uses a combination of monetisation strategies that include selling their own products as well as those of others.

Ben Settle, Frank Kern, Ryan Deiss, Jeff Walker, Eben Pagan, Perry Marshall, Andy Jenkins, Mike Filsame, Mike Dillard…literally any marketer i’ve ever met, worked with, or encountered…

Every single one of them makes money by selling their own products as WELL AS the products of others.

If you were ever on any of their mailing lists or a customer of theirs, you’ll know what i’m talking about.

They use a combination of joint ventures, special deals and agreements, in-content advertising, list rental, affiliate links, and so on.

The mechanics of selling and promotion are indifferent to WHO created the product; you or someone else.

In fact, veteran information marketers release one or two products per year and then spend the rest of their time making money from their audience, by promoting for their friends.

Because while you can’t build enough quality products, fast enough, on every topic of interest to your audience, you CAN find new ways to make money from other people’s products… EVERY DAY!

So why shouldn’t you?

I always say the Super Traffic Machine teaches the proper way to do affiliate marketing. But my definition of “affiliate marketing” is not just Clickbank. It’s making money from the sale and promotion of products you’re NOT involved in creating.

If you want to learn how to build an audience, engage with your content, and monetise using the full variety of clever strategies i teach, all without creating your own product…Then the Super Traffic Machine is your friend.
