In order to get your screen cast that you make in Camtasia fit onto the youtube screen you will need to set the record settings for High Definition.
The first and most important step is to set your screen’s resolution so you can maintain the right aspect ratio for YouTube’s Widescreen format. Once that’s done, you will set your recording dimensions in Camtasia, then finally, produce your video in High Definition for maximum quality.
Let’s begin…
Step 1. In Windows, go to your Control Panel and set your screen resolution to 1280×720. If you use an Apple OS, you’ll need to set your Display settings to a similar setting.
Step 2. Setting the high definition dimensions in the recording settings to 1280×720 as shown in the image below.
Step 3. Producing the screencast in High Definition.
After you record your screencast and hit the stop button you will get the preview playback screen in which case you now have a few options to pick from. I normally click on the produce button and let the software create a saved product for me.
Step 4. Selecting the HD setting for a high quality Youtube video setting.
If you wondering why we don’t select the Share to Youtube setting, its simply because you have total control over the file after it is produced. Because you still need to add Meta Data to the file before you upload it to Youtube.
