   How do I know when to quit trying to make a business work?

Easy! You never quit. Change strategy? Sure. But a real entrepreneur never quits.

You’ve probably asked yourself this question. You’ve been pushing at this online business thing for a while, you see others getting results you wish for. But beyond a straggling sale here or there, you can’t seem to break through.

Maybe you’re not cut out for this, you think. Maybe this isn’t for you.

This is wrong. i’ll tell you why and how you can turn business success into a CERTAINTY for yourself.

Building a business is a learning experience. There isn’t a “right way”. Everyone’s making it up as they go, learning by trial and error.

What if the question were, “When should your child quit learning to bike?”

Or, “When should you quit trying to teach a child to walk or talk?”

These ideas are ridiculous. Even if your kid is slower than others, you don’t ever say, “ahhh this walking thing, my kid just isn’t cut out for it…”

You expect them to fall, get up, fall, get some bruises, and keep going until they learn. Everyone eventually figures out walking, talking, and riding.

The difference is, for non-entrepreneurs, having a business is optional. There’s a point at which you’ve lost enough money or wasted enough time that the only smart thing to do is quit.

On the other hand, learning to bike is a crucial part of childhood. Unless your kid is jumping off bridges and pulling stunts, their risk is pretty low. They might get a bruise or scrape but nothing serious. So you can afford to push them to keep trying as long as it takes.

Business, on the other hand, if you’re not careful, you could lose your family, your home, your freedom…

And many aspiring online marketers are NOT careful. They’re trying to build a business by jumping off cliffs and pulling stunts, before even learning the basics of biking. It doesn’t take many tumbles before they’re thinking about quitting.

That’s why the most important advice i can give you if you’re making a serious go of doing an internet business is:

Be DEPRESSION-LEVEL pessimistic about how quickly and how easily you will make even the smallest amount of consistent revenue.

Even then, chances are you’re still being too optimistic!

Since you won’t be cashing out your internet zillions starting tomorrow, you’ll probably wanna have a plan for how to survive in the meantime.

Also, how are you gonna finance your business? There are costs, which without, you’re fucked.

Like what are you gonna do if you can’t advertise, you can’t hire people, you can’t buy hosting, you can’t buy services, software, or tools?

You can’t start a business completely broke. Get a job, get some financing.

Secondly, be PARANOID-LEVEL careful. Only risk money you can afford to lose. Ensure, even a loss is still a monetisable win somehow.

And if it’s a recurring expense, project it into the future…just because you can afford $79.95 for this tool today doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll be able to afford it every time the bill’s due. Especially if your business doesn’t “take off” THIS month (it won’t, trust me).

Finally, be sure you’re iterating the RIGHT activities.

Like, if you were learning to ride a bike, it’s simple. You stand with legs on either side of the bike, you hold the steering as straight as you can, put your feet on the pedals, and alternate pushing, while trying to remain upright. If you keep trying to do this sequence of steps enough times, you’ll eventually figure it out.

But with business, there’s an infinite number of ways to do it, and you poor fool, are doing all the wrong activities.

If your idea of affiliate marketing is to jump from strategy to strategy, always looking for a “shortcut” to avoid implementing the fundamentals of business and marketing…doing anything to avoid painful activities like investing money into advertising or doing work that requires patience and consistency…always in a rush to get to the fun part of collecting money and getting paid “passive” income…

That’s like the idiot kid who doesn’t have the patience to learn to bike but wants to go right into the “fun” of doing wheelies, riding hands-free, and jumping off cliffs. He’s gonna break his ass.

And so will you.

Hi Jim – Google changed the rules yesterday. All my ads were disapproved or their Quality Score went so low they won’t ever display. I called an 800 number I have for Google and spoke with one of their adwords reps. Google no longer considers network marketing, affiliate marketing and MLM businesses as “valid” businesses.
