It’s bound to happen…
Google will probably become self-aware one day.
Probably not as dark as Skynet from The Terminator (movie) –
The computer that took over the world and started “terminating” humans.
But the Google Engine is getting to be pretty freakin smart. Their mission?
Get into OUR heads.
Advertisers will stop at nothing to reach consumers with laser-targeted
messages, even at our most vulnerable moment.
Hard to believe?
Take for example, the 2011 Computerworld article that
reports on several smartphone apps designed to pick up ambient noise from your mobile’s
microphone and camera.
The apps can do things like tell…
* your gender and the gender of the people you talk to
* your approximate age and the ages of people you talk to
* the time you go to bed and wake up
* what you are watching on tv or listening to on radio
* how much time you spend alone and how much with others
* what type of
transport you use to get to and from work
Plenty of other stuff too.
One app can tell who’s inside and who’s out. Who’s with you
in the same room and who’s near you in another room.
One shopping app can tell which of several participating stores
you walk into by picking up inaudible sounds inside the store – so they can
reach you with specials and deals.
Yet another app works in combination with your favourite tv
show, and can tell what scene you’re watching so it can reach you with relevant
content about each scene.
Who knows, probably by the time Google Goggles 2.0 comes
out, advertisers will find a way to reach us in our dreams. Maybe we can even
buy ourselves a dream package sponsored by Google haha.
Scary?
But can you imagine how precise and personalised the targeting in advertising is getting?
Imagine an app that can “hear you” say, “I feel like Tacos”…then
automatically shows you ads for nearby restaurants that serve them.
Pretty effective form of advertising ha?
This is NOT fiction.
The ad technology already exists and you see it in use every
day.
I’m using it right now. My KickStart students are using it
too.
What do you think those ads around your Gmail account are?
They’re all targeted to your PRIVATE email conversations.
Try emailing your friend, “I’m thinking about getting a
divorce” and see if you don’t start seeing ads about divorce lawyers in your
area.
Got an email from some other marketer about traffic
generation?
Open it. You might see one of my ads turn up.
So hey–this might bother the average consumer–but it’s exciting
times for us marketers.
Today, we can target customers with pinpoint precision no
matter where they are… even in private moments.
You can target people your competition is emailing–while they’re trying to sell to them you can steal them away!
How?
Learn the Traffic KickStart method.
You’ll learn to reach anyone, anywhere, with an ad message laser
targeted to exactly what’s on their mind right now.
There’s nothing special to do either-
Just follow the instructions
and your ads will automatically be seen in both the private and “public”
moments. They’ll follow people around on the sites they frequent.
That’s the power of KickStart.
Your target people can’t get away from you if they tried.
