Several voices are talking over each other.
Each has its own theory.
The voices get louder, and the ideas more wild before I say
anything.
At the table suddenly, everyone goes silent.
“Dude. Don’t listen to Jim. He’s EVIL. His mind is sick,
twisted.”
Ouch!
Why so mean?
This is just dinner conversation with FRIENDS…over sushi of
all things!
The whole thing started when someone asked:
“Yo. Why’s sushi always so expensive?”
The theories pouring in. One person says, “it’s a
special cut of the fish”, another says, “No. They buy each fish at auction and
one Tuna can reach over 1000 bucks.”
It seems to me everyone is merely regurgitating someone else’s
smart marketing strategy. The very same strategy used by every business to sell high-end products, to fabricate exclusivity, and sell the “quality” of their product.
All I said was:
“Quality is subjective. We’re not paying for the cost of making sushi…we’re paying
the cost of exclusivity.”
Does that sound evil to you?
Look, no business WANTS to overpay on their expenses.
Particularly the restaurant industry which is very good at
taking short-cuts with ingredients to create “good taste” with as little
nutrition as they can get away with.
It minimizes their costs and maximizes their margins.
Fine-dining establishments are no different. They just have
more room for food-cost because they charge significantly higher prices.
You get less food for more money. And you pay the price
willingly. But it’s not the price of the FOOD.
It’s the price of exclusivity.
So how do YOU create such exclusivity?
Create a story of course.
By telling a story about your product’s quality and
communicating it to your customers, you build a façade that makes people feel
privileged when buying…so privileged that your customers will communicate your product
story to their friends.
It’s a common practice used in EVERY industry to sell
high-end products.
Reminds me of a scene in a Simpsons episode where Homer
enters a “Successmanship 101” class and this hilarious conversation ensues:
Teacher: You see that car out there?
That’s a Bentley Mark XII. They gave one to me, one to Steven Spielberg, and
then they shot the guy who made it.
Lenny: I’d hate to be in that union.
Teacher: You see this watch? It’s jammed
with so many jewels, the hands can’t move. What kind of watch do you have?
Homer: Uh, well I drew it on.
Exclusivity my friend!
People will pay handsomely to feel special.
But when you sell online, how do you tell YOUR product
story?
How can YOU sell a high end product?
Easy.
Use email.
Start an email newsletter, drive traffic to it, and use your newsletter to tell your products’
story.
People buy by the hoard.
I teach you how to do this in a very cool bonus video included
free with the Traffic KickStart training. The title, “How to Sell to Cold
Traffic in 1-3 emails”
