i saw this video a while back where Akon was talking about working with Eminem.
he was amazed at his work ethic.
Akon shows up at the studio around 6 pm and Em’s already gone home. The next day, they’re both there at 9 am. Lunch rolls around, Akon keeps working but Em’s off to lunch. Exactly one hour later he’s back to work. 5 pm rolls around and Em drops his work exactly where it is and heads home.
This is a big deal for Akon because Em’s the first artist he’s worked with who treats music-making as a job.
now that’s exactly how Germans do it. i can’t tell you the number of times we’ve been kicked out of a shop or refused entry into a restaurant if it was near closing time.
they have this philosophy of lifestyle over money.
as much as this annoys me as a consumer, i think it’s a good way to treat your affiliate marketing business.
I’ve seen many people get into affiliate marketing and let it take over their life. they pour ALL their money and time into it.
some of them are crazy enough to actually quit their jobs!
then they leave affiliate marketing with nothing to show for it.
the issue is many of them think they’re gonna be the special case and it’s gonna happen for them ANY DAY now. they approach the entire business with a short-term mindset and then they burn themselves out, overextend themselves, and make big mistakes they can’t come back from.
affiliate marketing is a BUSINESS. I’ve been doing it for nearly two decades and my family has lived off the income this entire time. I’ve never worked with my degree in my life.
and like any business, you have to spend some time building before things take off.
which means you need to strap in for the long haul. the winner is always going to be the one who can sustain whatever useful business activity they’re doing, long-term.
the advantage affiliate marketing has over more traditional businesses is that there’s a low barrier to entry and you can START it on a shoestring budget.
also, unlike many businesses, you don’t have to “man the shop” yourself. so you can build alongside a job.
which makes your day job your biggest asset as an affiliate marketer. it makes it possible for you to build your business in a cool and rational manner. you can plan. you can learn. you can invest. you can think long-term. you can take care of your family and not worry about not having made a commission this month.
but you have to be smart about striking a balance.
that means, treating your affiliate marketing business like you’ve taken on a second, part-time job. and whatever time or money you decide to invest, you have to be prepared to invest FOREVER. if you catch yourself trying to allocate time or money “until” or “if”…then you’re trying to allocate too much.
this is something i emphasise a lot with the Super Traffic Machine DIY Kit. because we know anyone who has a chance of success in affiliate marketing is someone with a full-time job.
and that means their job is their #1 priority.
i get a lot of push back from people about the 8-month schedule of the Super Traffic Machine. but most people serious about affiliate marketing can realistically only spare about 2-4 hours PER WEEK to work on their business. which makes the monthly schedule perfect for most.
but i also know the people who were in a huge rush and were really irritated about the 8-month timeline, they have a handful of the Super Traffic Machine DIY Kit modules collecting dust on their bookshelves!
i doubt if they even cracked open any of the manuals.
then there are others who actually followed the steps and built their Super Traffic Machine. and for most of them, the monthly shipping schedule was PERFECT.
a few of them DID reach out mid-month on certain months to ask if they could get the next module because they finished early. and of course, i let them do that.
but it’s not just the shipping schedule. everything i teach you in the manuals is about treating affiliate marketing as a lucrative BUSINESS that you can build alongside your job. including our traffic strategies.
even the Traffic SparQ strategy i’m teaching this month is designed to facilitate the long game.
because i could show you how to throw 10k on traffic…but if you can’t make it back in sales this month, you can’t even spend $1 next month.
instead, i show you how to spend $5 on targeted traffic and try to turn it into $10. even if you fail, you’re not out by much and you survive to try on another day.
i think most people can sustain $5 for ads, for as long as it takes to turn it into profit.
so if you haven’t taken a look at Traffic SparQ yet, check out the link below. i show you the fastest way to kick off some targeted traffic to your affiliate offer. the deadline is THIS Sunday so you better be quick:
