Guy walks
into a New York bank…
Tells the loan
officer he needs to borrow $5,000 for a 2-week trip to Europe.
The loan
officer says they’ll need something for collateral.
Guy pulls
out the keys to his brand new $250,000 Ferrari parked on the street, hands over
the title papers, and asks, “Will that be enough?”
Of course
it is. The bank give him the loan, the staff drive the car down to the parking garage and
send Guy on his way.
Upon
returning from his trip, Guy heads straight to the bank, pays the $5000
loan in full, plus $26.92 interest.
Loan Officer says, “I want to thank you for your business. But I’m curious. We
looked into your finances and found that you’re a multi-milllionaire. I don’t understand why you bothered to borrow
$5,000 when you have so much money.”
Guy
looks at Loan Officer and smiles.
“Where else
in New York can I park my Ferrari for under $2/day and expect to find it there
when I get back?”
**LAUGH TRACK**
I’ve always loved this
joke.
That’s a true entrepreneurial mind.
And even
though it’s only a joke, reality is, if you want to generate traffic to your website and make money with your online business, you’re going
to need to start thinking more like this.
Truth be
told…
99% of online
marketers are “wannabe entrepreneurs”.
They WANT
to be in business…
They WANT
to get traffic….
They WANT
to make sales…
They WANT
to make money…
But they haven’t
learned to think like an entrepreneur.
An
entrepreneur does NOT think of money as scarcity, that only buys things.
To him, it’s
a tool he can put to work so he doesn’t have to.
And it’s
NOT the only tool at his disposal either. A savvy entrepreneur has MANY tools
in his toolbelt…so even when he has little money, he has a whole array of other
resources he can use to do the same thing.
Like “real-estate
flipping”, for example.
Actually,
generating web traffic can be a lot like real-estate flipping.
Flipping is
when you buy a “revenue-generating asset” and quickly resell it for
profit.
And hey,
isn’t traffic nothing more than a revenue-generating asset for the web entrepreneur?
So he buys
the traffic “asset” and quickly makes money from it…not by selling it…but by selling TO it.
The wannabe, on the one hand, spends his days in the dark alleys of the internet, tearing his hair out
trying “free traffic”, trolling the forums, collecting emails from random
websites, spamming people who never asked for his sales pitch, joining mailing
lists JUST so he can reverse market to his betters…
Why?
Because he thinks advertising
is “UN-Necessary expense”.
He can’t get
his tiny head around why anyone would PAY for advertising when it can be got free.
And although he hasn’t managed to get free traffic and make money from it, he remains convinced that he’ll follow his amateur instinct and keep looking.
A real entrepreneur, on the other hand, puts his money to work and avoids the leg work.
It’s
actually pretty simple.
Traffic is not just a
revenue-generating asset. Advertising is a PROFIT short-cut.
The entrepreneur spends
his time “flipping” it…err…selling to it. Cashing in. Getting paid quickly and
in time to get back his investment and repeat the whole process again.
So what can you do if you WANT to buy traffic … but you can’t afford it?
