Can you explain this ODD Spike?

I don’t
want you to think this is a trick you can use to increase sales.
Because it’s
more a hypothesis than anything else. And I could be way off.
What am I on
As you
know, I usually send out emails quite frequently. I shoot for daily but don’t
always succeed.
Now, if
you’re driving traffic to a mailing list the way I recommend, you WANT to keep
in constant contact with your list. I’ve tried all kinds of sales strategies,
and this is the ONLY one guaranteed to work.
But a few
months back, I made a strange observation by accident.
Sometimes I
would get so busy that I can’t push out a single email for weeks in a row. When
that happened, there was a STRONG and STEADY spike in sales activity!
Isn’t that

there be more sales when I DON’T email?
that my business model depends on email to sell my training products.
Do any
theories come to mind?
I told my
email marketing specialist pal, Ben Settle about this observation and offered
up a theory as to why. He wasn’t totally convinced…and I don’t blame him, he’s
the one who encouraged me to do daily emails in the first place.
But the
pattern is too difficult to ignore.
Here’s what
I think…
I think
that most people out there are “do nothing”, all talk and no action types.
Fact of
many of these people feel by merely getting my emails, they’re passively
learning and somehow that’s “enough”.
Enough at
least to appease any sense of guilt they might feel for having an online
business they’re not actively working on.
And I believe,
that as long as I keep up my consistent emails, I’m helping them feed that
But I don’t
actually write these emails to educate…
Nor do I
write them to sell. (GASP!)
I write
them for ONE reason and one only.
And what’s
even funnier is, I write them to entertain MYSELF primarily.
When I want
to teach some real raw traffic or online marketing techniques, I create a
training product.
When I want
to sell, I write a blatant, no-beating-around-the-bush sales pitch.
And that’s
god’s honest truth.
So my
theory is…
do-nothing types, when I disappear for a while, they feel cut off. And at that
point, the only way to do something productive is to dig up an old email of
mine, find the latest product being pitched…and buy it.
Just buy
necessarily do anything beyond that–like go through it, act on it, or learn
from it.
Because for
many of the “do nothing types”, buying something is easier than (god forbid)
doing real work.
That’s my
theory anyway.
Which is
why I wanted to make the point, please DO NOT think this is a technique.
If you don’t
generate traffic, you don’t sell, and you don’t follow-up, aint no one buyin a
damn thing.
The only
reason this freak accident even worked for me, is that I have a lotttttttt of sales
content out there.
because people are aware of my products and what they can do for them…
And it’s
because I’ve already created the necessary desire.
Which is
why I can take a break any time and be more profitable than when I’m working!
If that
sounds sexy and you want to be able to do it, then you have to start with something
to sell. Drive traffic to it. And follow-up consistently.
