lol i really didn’t expect yesterday’s email to hit a nerve, but it seems it did anyway.
the email was titled “How many emails will annoy your customers” (you can see a copy here if you missed it).

“Hi Jim. I don’t even know what you’re selling and to be honest. I don’t have a pot to piss in. In other words. I’m not a good prospect now and don’t see the big picture getting much better for a while. Good luck with the other marks.”
doesn’t know what i’m selling? he clearly didn’t bother to read anything on the page he subscribed from. Good riddance.

yeesh, that guy was no good either.
why am i sharing my hate mail with you?
because it proves the point i made yesterday, and it illustrates it so perfectly that i couldn’t resist turning it into a teachable moment.
i didn’t force anyone onto this mailing list. in fact, i paid good money to advertise for TARGETED traffic (meaning, bad non-target-buyer traffic like exampled above was NOT desired).
my ads were shown to people interested in internet and affiliate marketing and offered them the opportunity to learn some skills that would help them get the results they’re looking for, by way of a training product i sell. People who responded to my ads were also given the opportunity to join this newsletter and sample what they might learn in the paid program.
Whether or not you have a “pot to piss in” does not concern me. You can stay subscribed, read my free emails, and never buy for the next 5 years, and it wouldn’t bother me one bit.
but to be clear, anyone on this mailing list, like you, has been through a few qualifying filters, and then CHOSE to subscribe. Literally, they had to type their email address and tell me they wanted to receive emails from me about some PAID product of mine. The first email every new subscriber receives from me tells them how to unsubscribe.
the fact that Hater #1 claims he doesn’t know what it is i’m selling clearly indicates he was NEVER a potential buyer. In fact, he somehow managed to slip through my qualifying messaging and ended up subscribing to my mailing list, when i never wanted his type as a subscriber.
when you send emails frequently, like i do, you automatically purge your mailing list, forcing the WRONG people off. Which is what happened here. They along with others, less vocal, with each email you send will unsubscribe and self-filter.
This is NOTHING to be sad about. They were never a loss because they were never your buyers.
Simultaneously, you engage and deepen your relationship with the RIGHT people who value your emails and who might realistically consider buying from you.
do these haters represent the vast majority of my thousands and thousands of subscribers?
no, of course not.
which is why there’s no need to worry about annoying either your customers nor your potential customers with frequent emails. They’ll remain subscribed.
if you ever want to connect with them though, you have to give them what they want:
Communicate with them often. Be part of their routine.
Hater #2 claims that 2 emails was enough to annoy him.
Well, first off, if you only got to send one email per subscriber lead, there would be no point in investing into building and maintaining a mailing list. it would certainly never attract any sales for you or make money.
Secondly, the subject of the email i sent was, “how many emails will annoy your CUSTOMERS”. (which clearly is all he read of the email)
He’s not a customer.
My customer mailing lists have the HIGHEST open and click-rates. I’m talking in the range of around 80-100%. You’ll find, if you deliver good products, yours will be similarly responsive.
My customers receive the very same emails my non-customers receive. You know, the ones pitching the very product they already bought. like the one you’re reading right now. And yet, they remain subscribed and they read these emails.
they’re more responsive than anyone else!
Do you know why?
because they learn from observing what i do. because i still share valuable insights they benefit from. and more importantly, because they LIKE me. Your customers and potential customers alike will read from you because they like you.
That’s the power of frequent emailing. You make DEEPER connections with the right people who value what you have to say. And this translates to more customers, repeat customers, and revenue.
which is why i’m always baffled by the ignorance of so many internet marketers. including the supposed experts.
there’s this aversion to investing into activities that build relationships, trust, and long-term brand loyalty. everyone’s so keen on chasing the quick buck, the one-time, immediate sales conversion…and using all sorts of tricks and hackery to maximise it…they will make every excuse to avoid following up, creating valuable products that truly deliver on their marketing promises, and putting in the time, work, energy, and LOVE into being valuable and deserving of every customer’s trust.
this is the fundamentals of the Super Traffic Machine training. it’s about creating an affiliate BRAND.
