People talk about “untargeted
traffic” like they have a clue.
Please.
What do they know?
These dipshits have
been skipping all over the internet looking for a traffic solution that is
targeted. Like it’s possible to identify JUST the people who will definitely
get hoodwinked into paying them money.
Perhaps the tooth
fairy and santa clause are out there somewhere too.
And maybe there’s even
an advanced super-technology traffic supplier that can identify and send to
your website ONLY people who have a mole on their right butt-cheek, with a hair
sprouting out of it.
Ridiculous.
Look, for decades and
long before YOU decided to get a website and advertise it, business has been
conducted with relatively “UN-Targeted” traffic.
Think Television
commercials.
I mean, we see ads
that we have ZERO interest in whatsoever. For companies big and small.
And even though we may
not buy from those ads, someone is paying good money for their target customer
to see them.
Advertisers have never
really had opportunity to “target” their ads with any precision.
So why are you the special case?
Right here on my desk
is an open issue of Inc. Magazine.
First ad is for the
2012 Azera. A car.
This is NOT a car enthusiast’s
mag. But I’m pretty sure Hyundai isn’t going broke after this ad.
More ads: Sun Life Financial,
Dell, British Airways, GoToMeeting, Progressive, Zurich…
I mean, sure you can
see the connection between who reads Inc. Magazine:
Possibly a CEO, a
manager, a business owner, a wannabe entrepreneur, a network marketer (ahem wannabe
ahem), a school kid with entrepreneurial inclinations…
But companies are
paying GOOD money to advertise to this crowd.
Because the ads might be
for things some members of the crowd care about.
One thing we know for
sure is, nobody reading the mag is explicitly and most definitely looking to
buy a Hyundai, looking for a better disability benefits program for their employees, in
need of a new laptop, about to take a business trip, interested in a virtual
meeting solution, and wanting to change insurance provider … ALL AT THE SAME
TIME!
In the same way, when dumbasses
get traffic and can’t convert it…dumbasses rationalize that it’s the TAFFIC’s
FAULT.
“It’s not targeted.”
Sorry, but how much
more targeted do you want your traffic?
You want people who
are typing into the search, “I am a blithering idiot, dumbass, motherfugker,
please rape me of all my cash”?
Should they be looking
for, “I want to buy John McWhite’s stupid affiliate program from Lulu Larkin’s
affiliate link”?
Think it’s funny?
It’s not.
Pay-Per-Click Advertising…is the only way you CAN actually target your traffic
this way.

Not that I would do it this way, but i can get pretty darn close.
And remember,
next time you get traffic that joins your mailing list, and you can’t convert
it…
Don’t blame it on
targeting.
Businesses have been making
