Adding Insult to Robbery

You gotta be careful on the Internet.
Lots of thieves trying to trick poor unsuspecting people out of their money. But having spent years training thousands of online business up-starts…
…If i were you, i’d be less scared of businesses ripping me off than customers.
It sounds crazy. But here’s what I mean…
The other day, I made a mistake.
I accidentally sent out an invitation email to the entire buyer-list of my very valuable 12-month group-coaching program.
When the coaching was launched last year, against my better judgment, I thought it would be nice to give my customers the option to pay off the fee in 12 x monthly installments so it’s easier on them.
I made them sign an agreement to commit the entire “admission fee” in tiny chunks. All the same, a handful of them defaulted on their payment anyway.
Normally, I would remember to exclude these jerk-offs from the invitation. But not this time.
I had to think on my feet!
Decided to cancel the class, schedule a different date, and claim to have made a scheduling error in the previous link, re-inviting ONLY those who were up to date with payment and excluding the rest.
So it gets weird…
Shortly after, a guy writes:
“Not a good start. The link’s not working”.
(This meant he never received the new link, and was most likely one of the “payment suspended” customers).
I double checked to be sure.
Lo and behold, he had only ever made a single payment EVER and then defaulted on the rest. His account was in arrears over $1,000. And he had 9 months of access to recorded materials for free.
In other words, he was robbing BLIND me and the other students who paid in full.
Shyt happens. What could I do?
But what bothered me…
His TONE! He acted like he’d done nothing wrong and that I need to tend to his problem as if he were a paying customer.
He was most certainly NOT.
It gets worse…
Another guy slipped between the cracks because of a “special circumstance” request he made of me, which I accepted out of pity. I allowed him to use a different method to make payment, which in short was not connected to our shopping-cart.
He actually made it to the class…and he’d been receiving ALL the notices to all the classes undetected.
Total payments received?
But again, that didn’t bother me. It was my mistake, I should’ve known better.
What was INSULTING is that

he had the nerve to ask questions and waste other paying people’s coaching time…thinking I wouldn’t notice (or remember) him.
I spared him the humiliation in class. But I went to suspend his access immediately after, and noticed he’d logged in only recently with FULL access to all the training he didn’t pay for.
What’s more, he’s been pulling similar scams on friends of mine, as i’m told!
So what’s the point of me opening up to you all this “behind the scenes” stuff?
Why does it matter to you?
Actual BUSINESSES that scam are very rare.
If a company is running big ad campaigns on sites like Google (as we do), they’re subject to lots of scrutiny from the FTC, from the government, from advertising networks, from their web hosting service, from their contact management software, from their merchant accounts…
Every service we need to operate, protects itself from us.
It’s hard to even get into the scam game if you want to!
But CUSTOMERS who scam?
They fly under the radar and go by relatively undetected. But they cost you milllions. And they hurt the businesses who do good things that help humanity.
They buy so they can pirate intellectual property…these are people’s unique thoughts and ideas, and then refund so they don’t pay for them.
They straight up plagiarise, software, images, content, and entire sales presentations and businesses ideas to use for their own purposes which dilute the effectiveness of a company’s own marketing!
They claim fraudulent chargebacks from their banks on stuff they bought, received, and used.
They ask for special treatment and feed you sob stories so they can use your kindness to hurt your business.
Then justify it all by saying things like, “hey I’m only a little guy trying to get ahead. Those big businesses can afford the loss.”
So, Robin Hood then? They’re the heroes? Stealing from the rich to feed the poor?
And what about YOU, the hard working business that provides solutions and value to the lives of others? Are you not a hero?
Or does making money from your work make you automatically evil?
YOU have to protect yourself from CUSTOMERS.
