A Traffic epidemic with 4 STUPID articles & a TWITTER account

Did I ever tell you…
…about the “viral traffic” experiment I did, using Twitter
and 4 very short, kinda dumb articles?
It’s actually one of the first Traffic Epidemics I pulled
off publicly.
Before I go on though, this is a good time to remind you
there’s only THREE DAYS LEFT to get your ticket to the live Traffic Epidemic training
call.
Time’s running thin if you’re procrastinating.

On Sunday, I’m holding a live traffic training where (for once
in my life) I’ll be teaching FREE TRAFFIC methods. 10 methods each designed to
turn your web content viral.
I’ll be teasing a little more about what’s in the
training for the next couple days. But if you’re interested in attending, you
should grab your ticket fast here:

=====
Alright…
So this whole thing started when i had to brainstorm a strategy
for a product launch.
For most of the years before, I’d been generating traffic
professionally for everyone else but myself.
Worked with the biggest websites in
the industry, made them a lot of money…it was time to strike out on my own.
But because i had a tiny mailing list, no copywriting skills, and little
money to invest in advertising…i wanted to make a milllion bucks in one shot.
One advantage i had was that if I put my mind to make a
network give traffic, I would get it.
The product idea and some promotional materials I’d already
worked on had been sitting stalled for about 2 years. I had creative
differences with my lazy, too-creative-for-his-own-good, slow business partner who
I mistakenly brought in to help with copywriting.
By this point, the traffic scene had changed…
Google Adwords, where most internet marketers made their
fortune before 2008… had banned most of our industry and few people (aside
from me) had active accounts any more.
Twitter which was once sexy for Internet Marketers … it was now
“dead” in their opinion.
MySpace had already been replaced with Facebook.
Most of our promo material was irrelevant and I hadn’t sold
a dang thing in 2 years.
We had to start from scratch.
Truth be told, my partner, who talked a big game, knew very
little about traffic.
But I should give him credit– it was he who decided
that we should dominate every major social network and be seen and shared everywhere.
All the motivation I needed to get creative!
It was on me to figure out how of course. And that is
exactly what I did for almost every major traffic network…every social network
was buzzing with our names and our promotions…EXCEPT ONE!
Twitter. It was the last frontier.
I had no idea how to tackle it. The thing was so noisy with spam
by then, it was next to impossible to get a message to circulate.
Suddenly, I got an idea…
The number 4, in viral marketing seems to be important. I’m
not sure why…but it has always been at the base of every traffic method that
has ever worked for me.
So I decided to write 4 short, light, and entertaining articles
about the same topic. But completely independent of one another. Kind of like a
“sitcom” instead of a “tv series”.
And use a special method to promote them.
The word-count was under 400 per article, maybe less in some cases.
Reading them back today, I honestly have no idea why people loved them so much…they
are extremely light on content and not all that original.
But they were the heart of it all.
I published the articles over the span of a week. The idea was to build up momentum from one article to the next. I needed
the audience of each article to “leak” into the other articles in the series
and fuel them into a state of “lift off”.
It was all part of my Traffic Epidemic plan.
Without getting into detail, what happened next was amazing.
The first article was received with the usual enthusiasm
people had for my writing…which was encouraging but by no means a conquest.
But by the 4th article, the entire industry was BUZZING
about this little series of mine.
The final article in the series was read by 17,000 people and shared by
nearly 2,000 people to Twitter!
And it brought in thousands of subscriber-leads to our
mailing list in the span of a week–who formed the base of our product launch.
And kept steadily producing subscribers for months after that.
What’s most fascinating is that this article was shared
MOSTLY on Twitter.
Not so much on other social networks. But that was the plan
all along–focus is one of many secrets that make a Traffic Epidemic work so well.
Soon I was being invited to make presentations for major internet
marketing publishers. People were raving about these stupid 4 little articles. And
the whole thing went out of control.
The “Happily Ever After” ending is that when we finally launched
our product, we made a lot of money.
High 5!
Maybe you were even there to witness that promotion. So you’ll
remember how social media was buzzing with two guys who launched and sold a
freakin expensive product without affiliates or JVs.
It was epic.
If you’re interested in learning the details of this
Twitter method…and 9 more (I got another nice story about a YouTube video that got
~30,000 real human views in a month without even having any real content)
…if you’re interested in learning the details of Traffic
Epidemic…i’ll break down the method for you step-by-step on Sunday.
Reserve your seat at the link below. The whole training is
$10:
