I had the good fortune of speaking to Adwords staff about campaign strategy.
A friend of
mine had just launched a new campaign in the “privacy and anti-surveillance”
niche. And it wasn’t running. So I thought I’d ask my account manager to see
what’s up and get the site reviewed while at it.
My friend was
worried he had a compliance issue…
There was a problem with his billing profile. No biggie. Easily fixed.
interesting to me is this…
ask me to show them examples of Google Compliant Landing Pages. And when I do,
they go off and imitate the look and feel of that single page and think they’re

Back to my
girl at Google. So I asked her to review my friend’s landing page and see if
she can identify any issues.
Although I sent
her the landing page…the first thing she did was visit the site home-page. Followed
very quickly by the Contact Page.
I shit you
minutes she was critiquing the Product’s page.
page was the LAST thing she looked at. And she was purely looking at everything
from a usability and conversions point of view. Never once did she even mention
like I’ve always told you guys…
“compliant” adwords campaign is not about some technical thing you do…a
cleverly placed link here or there. Some specific language on top of your
opt-in box….or a certain type of page.

has products to sell and doesn’t try to hide it.

SHOULD be easy for honest people with legitimate businesses to do.
