… yet it’s the most taught sales technique online.
This idea…that if you give away a lot of valuable stuff free,
you make more money.
How does that make sense?
They call it, “towing the free line” – or – “the law of reciprocity”
(it isn’t a law at all).
Here’s why I bring this up…
Today, I received a promotional video for a training program
on how to run a HUGELY successful product launch without traffic and without a
Great pitch. But the training was flawed.
Even though the method works to some degree, it needs PLENTY
of JV traffic to be effective.
I would know. I did the JV thing, made plenty money with it…but lost my soul in the process.
There’s a better way–if only that trainer knew what you’ll soon know!
So the video says you should give away several pieces of “value
driven” content for free, over a number of days and NOT ask for the sale.
To gain trust and favour with your prospect list.
(Shouldn’t you have trust already with your list?)
Supposedly people start to feel like they owe you. And they’ll
SURELY buy when you launch.
Most people don’t pay their debts, let alone return favours
to a mean stranger. And that’s all you’ll ever be to them, unless you follow my

Today, while driving around town, I jokingly said to my wife:
“What is it with
Taxis? I always give them way but they never give way back!”
Actually, EVERYONE lets Taxis cut them off, because they
drive like arseholes and it’s safer to let them through.
Taxis here never reciprocate kindness with kindness.
Instead, they think they’re smart drivers because they can zip
through traffic and jump queues and get ahead of everyone.
When you sell online, the rules are not different.
If anything, the fact that you don’t have face-to-face
confrontation, makes it even less likely your website’s visitors will feel any obligation
or guilt for taking what you give and not giving back a darn thing.
Besides, you can’t guilt someone into buying.
We tie our survival with our money–so most people pay for stuff because they have to–not because they
And just like the taxi driver who thinks he’s a “smart
driver” when others give him way…
…Your prospects too will think they’re smart because they
can get away with the value of your product and not pay for it.
Instead, you need to demonstrate the value of PAYING for
Giving away bits of it free does the opposite. It
demonstrates advantage in NOT paying for your product.
And most people will take
advantage of you, not pay you, and feel no guilt about it.
In fact, if you DONT tow the free line, you chase all those cheapskate,
cheating arseholes far away from you!
So if it’s sales you want, don’t “tow the free line”.
Get trust by showing your list why they need your product.
And if you have the right traffic …
…and you build your prospect-list correctly, they will ALREADY

Remember, the “free line” idea makes the best of a BAD
SITUATION–it helps recover trust LOST. It’s for a lazy marketer who only ever
emails their leads just before they launch a product.
They have a trust problem.
But YOU don’t when you use the KickStart Method.
