He just sold his Cadillac and is looking for something fast.
He likes to buy cars at least 2 years old.
As he puts it, “someone else has already taken the hit” since
new cars lose at least a third of their value the second they leave the dealership.
Smart guy, methinks.
But he was frustrated with the amateurs selling on dubizzle.
Said it’s almost like these guys don’t want to sell! They give little detail,
and even when he calls them, getting an answer is like pulling fingernails.
Not a lot of people can sell naturally.
That was one of my most difficult challenges for years.
Remember in my last email, I told you about a product I published
to Clickbank with which affiliates earn
about $100/customer, EVEN THOUGH IT SELLS FOR LESS THAN $20?
Wonder how I managed that?
Few years back, I outlined a new product and shared the plan
with my boy Ben Settle. Asked for help with a selling strategy.
I asked because I was nervous about my sales skills. For a
long time, I had difficulty writing effective sales presentations. Got myself into
lots of crappy deals,
writing products that someone else made all the money on,
just because I was always in desperate need of a partner with copywriting
Ben barely glimpsed the outline and said, “No.”
“bro. problem is you’re creating a solution without knowing
the problem. Whenever you do that, rather than marketing, you end up looking
for problems to solve that might not exist in the first place. So your product
is never a good match.”
Something like that.
His words hit home hard.
The strategy he showed me seemed counter-intuitive, at first.
I don’t have time to go into depth. But the gist of it was to
write the sales page BEFORE investing into building the product.
If you create a sales presentation for an imaginary, ideal
product which identifies all the problems of the audience, then you have the
specifications for a perfectly matching product. All you have to do then is
build it. And that’s easy too…just find an expert, ask about all the challenges
you brainstormed, and record their answers in an interview.
There’s your best-selling product.
There you go. Take that advice to the bank. I did!
