The following question came in from one of your fellow
I know only very basic html back from [I] what learned
reading page sources 13 years ago and am not very technical but i can hack
together a page w[ith] some copy-and-paste and editing.
I’m the only person in my business. If ive never used adobe flash, can i
reasonably do this? Ive been dying to break into the app store for my business ***
as so many want recipes on their phone.
I dont blame them. I use my iphone and ipad every day too when i’m tired
of my mac.
I’m 27 and can follow instructions if its laid out
A very good question indeed. Even though it seems crazy that
I’m offering such a technical training
to subscribers of my online marketing
newsletters, I thought it’s something worth learning anyway.
After all, my formal education is in Computer Science yet I didn’t
go with a traditional career route, working at a software development company.
Instead, I chose to put my skills to use in the most modern business field of eCommerce
and online marketing.
And it’s been a great ride where my technical skills have given
me a huge advantage over others in the market.
Meanwhile, most of the online marketing world is fighting an
uphill battle, teetering on the edge of a technical field but not quite willing
to make the jump of learning the technical skills necessary. Always running
from one tool to the next, when just having a little technical knowledge would
allow them to make websites and programs that do exactly what they want, without the
cost of buying other people’s simplistic and constraining tools.
Programming is an incredible skill to have when you’re an
Let’s not forget that most of you have experienced the
thrill of CREATION already with something as basic as building your first
website- why not stop pretending and actually build a real program?
Mobile programs (or apps) are far simpler to build than computer
programs and they work on numerous devices and operating systems.
And this is exactly why I chose to do this training on Adobe
Flash – apps built with Flash are considered hybrid programs because they are
cross-platform and work on a variety of devices.
Just one of my Android apps, for example, works on over 300
devices from various manufacturers! I reused the same code to compile another
version for iOS devices so it works on all the iPhones, iPods, iPads, and Apple
And to answer our subscriber’s question – even if you don’t
have any existing skills with Adobe Flash or programming, my goal is to take
you from absolute non-programmer to the author of your very own mobile application
in 90 minutes.
You don’t even need to know HTML.
Adobe Flash lets you build apps by dragging fields, buttons,
and graphics onto the main app view. There is a small amount of coding of
course, but Adobe Flash actually tells you which instructions are available at
every step and how to use them.
It’s great fun.
And the best part is, at the end you’ll have an app you can
show off to your buddies and say hey IIII made this!
I tell you, your friends will be totally impressed.
Reminds me of the first program I wrote when I was 9.
It was very simple and text-based. All it did was ask the
user 10 multiplication problems, and checked their answers to give a final grade.
Boy, you should have seen how excited I was when I showed it
to my dad and he beamed with pride as he told each of his friends about my
Imagine your thrill when you make an App that works on over
300 devices with only a few lines of actual coding.
Or when your app turns up in the Google Play and iTunes stores when your friends search for it on their devices.
Or your thrill when you watch your download stats every day and see another 10 people have installed your app.
Relax dude! I’ll take you through it step by step,
line by line. Nothing will be easier. But the reward will fill you with pride.
