Why Civilized Businesses Should NEVER use Facebook

Facebook paid
advertising’s been BUZZING lately.
Everyone who can’t get
on Google swears by the power of Facebook PPC – oh gosh golly it’s so amazing
for traffic and leads and if your business isn’t on Facebook, you’re like soooo
I’m like, SOooo
Look, I was one of the
first people in the world to use Facebook PPC – I beta-tested their gray hairy arsed ad
But the market I used
it in was so different from the one used by the robot clone idiots cheering for
Facebook like they own stock in it.
This ad platform is quite
honestly one of the WORST imaginable.
It is filled with
click-fraud, fake accounts, bots, and their bidding and targeting algorithms
are RETARDED. Just ask Limited Run (they ran a FB test proving 80% of ad clicks
were fake!)
But hey, let’s put
that aside for a sec.
This is not about Facebook
stealing 80 cents from every ad dollar you spend.
It’s about YOUR
The way that Americans
(and to a similar extent, Canadians, Australasians, and Europeans) use the
Internet was formed PRE-Facebook.
I first discovered the
internet as a 7 y/o in New Zealand. It was FTP and telnet only. There was no “www”
in the mainstream. No free p0rn online…yet either.
At age 15 I moved to
Oman. There was NO INTERNET in the entire country or most of the Middle East
8 years behind!
In technology
time, that’s roughly a 80 year lag.
Whereas, Americans and
Europeans were already using the Internet to share information and to do
business…long before PRE-FACEBOOK!
Before Facebook there was Search Engines.
Programs like Facebook were called Internet Chats and were for nerds who could only get cybersex in text.
Internet users in America
and Europe grew up around SEARCH ENGINES. They learned that if you want to find
a business to buy from or to research information, you SEARCH with a SEARCH
Businesses grew the
internet with their websites and content – and users continued to find search
engines useful.
This means, for Americans, Australasians, and Europeans, Google.com is an INSTINCT!
Contrast this, to the
Middle East and other technologically-behind countries.
Until today, banks don’t
even issue credit cards that can be used on the Internet UNLESS you ask to
enable that feature.
You can’t get a “chargeback”
if you’re not happy and your money is not insured in case of hackers stealing
your card.
This is a big friggin
People in those parts
of the world, only in the last 2 years or so have started to use the internet to
interact with businesses.
Hence, there’s very
little content or information to “find”, especially about local businesses. And
since users now don’t expect to find information in search…businesses don’t
add content to the internet that CAN be searched!
So you can understand
why people in technologically-behind countries are NOT going to Google to have
their questions answered.
They arrived on the Internet
in the Post-Facebook era. They post and ask their friends.
Most of us are running
businesses in civilized countries, where the Internet was around long before
Facebook existed. Where Google and Yahoo and Microsoft are INSTINCTS.
And I don’t think
ANYONE should waste their money PAYING for advertising on Facebook.
People on Facebook are
NOT in an equal state of mind to people searching on Google or Bing or Yahoo!
Shut up. Just shut up with your lame justifications for Facebook. Listen.
When someone goes to
search, they are serious about solving their problem.
On Facebook, they’re
MILDLY CURIOUS about your ad.
That’s why if you only
have a limited ad budget and you care about the effectiveness of your ad
dollars, stop justifying Facebook and get your customers from search!
We’re here to help you
get your business in front of searchers who are looking for YOUR solution
