omg! programming bugs are the WORRRRST!-
i finally tracked a bug in the IBA’s shopping cart system today. It was letting people into the training for MUCH CHEAPER than the posted price. been racking my brain for like two weeks trying to figure out what was causing it. today it hit me, duh!
ok, let me see if i can explain this.
since the launch of the IBA, we had a couple of promotions where we discounted the price of admission. you may even remember this.
in some of the emails we sent out, we included a 1-click order link.
some people clicked the link and ordered.
others clicked the link and did not.
for the life of me, i do not know. but in any case, the simple act of clicking the link added the Internet Business Academy to a Paypal shopping cart, ready for payment.
Some people who clicked and didn’t complete the transaction weeks ago, decided to buy on a later date for real. Obviously this was long after the promotion was over.
Paypal apparently does not clear the shopping cart between uncompleted transactions…all it does, is add the IBA as a second item.
which means, the lucky people who benefited from this bug, got to see two items in their shopping cart – the IBA at its normal price, and the IBA at its old promotion price. All they had to do was remove the higher priced item and keep the discounted one in the shopping cart…and pay for the order.
More education for Lucky Person, and much less money for YaghiLabs.
anyway, we can’t do anything to fix this “bug” – it’s not even really a bug – it’s just a stupid idea that Paypal has of not clearing the shopping cart after an incomplete transaction. we’ll just have to leave it.
i figured it’s only fair i tell you about it in case you were one of the people who clicked the Internet Business Academy link and didn’t complete the transaction.
even if you can’t exploit us, the IBA is still worth full price if the feedback we’re getting is anything to go by.
