100,000 Per Article you WRITE?

I once knew a guy who
claimed to get a lot of traffic whenever he published an article.
And although he hailed
himself as the top copywriters alive, I can assure you he was not.
Because he wasn’t just
some guy.
He used to be my business
partner (and he is the reason I no longer have business partners).
Years ago, while
working on a marketing piece together, he made many unsubstantiated claims that
quite honestly seemed far-fetched.
Like one was: “I make at
least 10,000 dollars per article I write”
Rather than challenge
him directly, I realized that our marketing piece needed proof.
So I proceeded to
update all the sections I wrote with screenshots showing personal stats as
Needless to say, he
fought me on the changes.
But after a bit of
arm-twisting, he managed to include a few screenshots –
The kind where the
only thing a reader could see is a large number and nothing else.
One change was funny.
Suddenly, he was
making a minimum 100,000 per article he writes.
Now, this might be impressive
to the untrained eye. But if you just ask yourself this very simple question,
you’ll see how silly it was:
If YOU were really skilled
at writing articles, to the point that each one you published earned you
100,000 minimum, why on EARTH would you not write an article EVERY DAY?
I mean, that would be a
36.6 milllion dollar a year business on its own.
But most people are
NOT smart enough to ask such a question.
They’ll look at claims
of this type and think it means all they have to do is use Article Marketing to
get FREE traffic and make loads of dough in their sleep.
The truth is article
marketing is STUPID. It’s the most inefficient way to get traffic. It’s slow and
manual labour intense.
And most people are
too lazy to write, let alone write at such an expert level they would make it
worth their time.
Even my Gooroo buddy wrote
a total of 3 articles in his life – and quite honestly, none of them are very good.
On the other hand, I recently
spoke with a client who’s earning 3,000 dollars in sales from every piece of content
he posts.
But this guy does a
few key things very different from the traditional article marketer.
First, he uses paid
traffic (specifically PPC) to build a subscriber-list.
Since he has his very
own personal reader-base, he publishes content DAILY.
Not just articles, but
videos, blog posts, and emails and drives his subscribers to his content daily.
Far more realistic. Not
because the numbers are more conservative…
But because if you’re
going to write sales-driven articles, you’ll need an audience otherwise you’re
pissing in the wind.
A mass Article
Publishing content website is full of poor-quality content.
I mean, when I see a
search result with Ezinearticles.com in the domain, I don’t click. The article
MAY be very useful, but I’ve come to realize that most content there is poor
quality and written by amateur marketers who have no idea how to tie their own
shoelaces, let alone teach me anything useful.
I’m not the only
person in the great big Internet who thinks this way either.
This on its own should
be reason enough to dismiss Article Marketing as a pointless exercise.
On the other hand,
when you have your own list of subscribers…
You get them used to
opening your emails, visiting your blog, and watching your YouTube channel for
updates by the quality of your content.
Without being brought
down by the crap surrounding your content on Article Publishing sites.
